How do you mop floors?
If you want floors that feel truly clean (not just wiped), the most effective method is a dry pass first to collect dust and hair, followed by a wet pass to remove grime and refresh the finish. That’s the Wet + Dry Flat Mop method in a nutshell.
What you’ll need
- Sabco Neet Wet + Dry Flat Mop
- Sabco Neet DRY cloths and WET cloths
- A bin
Step 1: Clear the floor (30–60 seconds)
- Pick up anything that blocks your path (pet toys, mats, small chairs etc).
- If there are large crumbs, gather them first so the cloth can focus on fine debris.
Pro tip: Start at the far end of the room and work backward toward the exit, so you don’t walk over cleaned sections.
Step 2: Dry mop first (dust + pet hair removal)
- Take a DRY mop cloth from the packet.
- Attach it to the mop head so it sits smooth and flat.
- Mop using long s-shaped strokes, slightly overlapping each pass.
Why this matters:
Dry mopping is what stops hair and dust turning into dirty wet streaks. It also keeps your mop cleaner for a more effective clean! It’s also the step that makes floors feel instantly “neater.”
Technique for best results:
- Work in zones (kitchen → hallway → living area).
- For pet hair hotspots, use shorter strokes and a little extra overlap.
- Angle the mop head to reach skirting boards and corners where dust builds up.
Step 3: Remove the DRY cloth and bin it (don’t re-spread the mess)
- Peel the cloth off gently, folding it inward to contain what it collected.
- Put it straight in the bin and Chuck the Muck – no mess, no fuss!
This is one of the biggest advantages of the Wet + Dry system: you’re removing the dirt from the process, not mixing it into water.
Step 4: Wet mop second (grime removal + fresh finish)
- Take a WET mop cloth from the packet.
- Attach it smoothly to the mop head.
- Mop the floor again, focusing on high-use areas (kitchen, entry, dining, around pet bowls).
For sticky spots:
Pause and apply gentle pressure for a few seconds, then wipe through. You’re lifting and removing residue rather than scrubbing endlessly.
Step 5: Let it dry (usually quickly)
Because you’re not flooding the floor with bucket water, floors typically dry faster and feel fresher sooner.
Step 6: Make it an easy routine (the secret to always-clean floors)
For most homes:
- Dry mop daily or every second day (especially with pets)
- Wet mop a few times a week, or whenever floors feel dull/sticky
A routine you’ll actually do is the one that keeps a home consistently clean – and the Wet + Dry Flat Mop system is designed to make that realistic.
